Corniche Moments

Overview

The Mubadala Corniche Moments Winter Festival in December 2019 was a key part of the larger Abu Dhabi Moments initiative. This event, held from December 12 to 21, took place at the Formal Park on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, and was designed as a family-friendly winter wonderland.
The festival featured a wide variety of activities and entertainment options for people of all ages, including snowball fights, snowman-building zones, and an open-air ice rink where visitors could enjoy skating outdoors. There were also arts and crafts workshops, ornament-making, gingerbread decorating, and plenty of festive games for children. Live performances such as festive choir singing and holiday-themed movies were played daily throughout the event, enhancing the holiday spirit.

Attractions from Desert Snow

Eco Ice Rink

DesertSnow introduced a Glice rink, an eco-friendly synthetic ice skating surface that mimics the feel of real ice without requiring water or refrigeration. This sustainable alternative allowed visitors to enjoy the fun of skating in a winter-themed setting, even in Abu Dhabi's warm climate.

Snow Fight Zone

DesertSnow created an interactive Snow Fight Zone, where visitors could experience the fun of real snowball fights in a safe, controlled environment. This area offered a chance for people of all ages to engage in the thrill of a classic winter activity, making it one of the most popular attractions at the festival.

Real Snowman Building

The Real Snowman Building activity allowed families and friends to come together and build their own snowmen using real snow. This hands-on experience provided a nostalgic and creative opportunity for participants to shape their own winter creations, bringing classic winter fun to Abu Dhabi.

Falling Snow and Snow Dressing

To enhance the festive atmosphere, DesertSnow created realistic falling snow effects, simulating a gentle snowfall throughout the event. Paired with expert snow dressing, which layered artificial snow across the landscape, these effects transformed the festival grounds into a picturesque winter wonderland.
